Video Poker is a beloved game that can be enjoyed in casinos around the world, or in your house on your PC, through a web connection. The rules are absolutely simple and consist of the player trying to achieve the greatest mixture of cards as you can in order to come away with cash. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, methods employed during a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be useless here.
The game of Video Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, credit slips or money) into the machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will then be "dealt" on the video screen.
The Video Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and players should now pick which cards to hold and which to discard. For the cards the gambler wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.
After the gambler has selected which cards she wishes to retain, they should press ‘draw’, at which point any new cards will be needed they will be handed out. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the payout schedule.
Generally, the minimum succeeding hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It should be known that the payout schedule can change from machine to machine, so that knowledgeable players are able to select the most beneficial machine each instance.
Once the first round has played out, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to maximize their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that has been won. Further, several versions of the game allow the gambler a chance to increase their profits, in which situation another game is played. There are also variations among specific games, with some virtual decks having wild cards and other differing aspects to increase playability.
