Electronic Poker is a beloved game that usually will be bet on in casinos across the globe, or alternatively at home on your PC, through a web connection. The rules are very straightforward and involve the player trying to get the highest combination of cards achievable in order to win cash. In this respect it is much the same as a regular game of poker, minus the involvement with other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as tricking, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Electronic Poker begins when the gambler puts credits (either tokens, tickets or money) into the video poker machine and presses the draw button. A five card hand will be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Video Poker game also has hold buttons, and players will need to now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the gambler wishes to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the player has selected which cards he or she would like to keep, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any fresh cards are needed they will be handed out. The round is now completed, with the Video Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands shown on the pay out schedule.
Generally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money getting larger for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It goes without saying that the payout schedule can range from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are able to choose the most money-making machine every time.
Once the first round has completed, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that might have been won. Further, several styles of the game give the enthusiast a chance to increase their profits, in which situation another hand is played. There are also differences among individual games, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
