Video Poker is a favored game that is able to be played in casinos across the world, or alternatively at your house on your personal computer, through an Internet account. The game rules are very simple and involve the player attempting to achieve the highest mixture of cards achievable in order to win money. In this respect it’s much the same as a classic game of poker, without the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques employed during a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the player inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A 5 card hand will then be electronically ‘distributed’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and bettors should now decide which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the bettor would like to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons should be pressed so that they light up. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘draw’, at which point any fresh cards will be needed they will be dealt. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine analyzing the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands printed on the pay out schedule.
Normally, the lowest winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to 2 pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can vary from game to game, so that discerning players are able to pick the most profitable game each and every instance.
Once the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that have been won. Further, a few versions of the game allow the gambler an opportunity to double their wins, in which situation a further hand is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some decks of cards having wild cards and other varying characteristics to enhance playability.
